Our Story


Workers-in-Motion is a web based application by Softtrends that enables businesses to better manage their field force. Softtrends was established in July 1998 by two founders with decades of experience in product development, marketing, and sales in far east and the US, in the area of embedded systems.Today, Softtrends is a leading enterprise mobility solution provider with clients across the globe. For last 16 years we have developed mobile applications for all kinds of smartphones, feature phones, and PDAs on every possible platform on planet – including Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7 and Nokia Symbian. All our applications are either standalone or cloud enabled through messaging or internet interfaces.

(Samant)

Board of Directors

Samant has 28 years of experience in Mobile, Embedded Systems, Windows, and Server solution development including 15 years with American Megatrends (AMI), Atlanta, Georgia, where he designed and completed development of AMI’s flagship product AMIBIOS along with two other engineers. He invented many utilities for PC hardware and Mobile applications, some of which have received PC Magazine’s editor’s choice and Best Mobile application award in leading competitions. An IIT trained Computer scientist, Samant co-founded Softtrends in 1998. He started Softtrends Softtware Pvt Ltd in Bangalore, India on June 2001 to develop system as well as application level software solutions for PDAs, Mobile phones and Wireless devices based on Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Symbian OS, and Linux. Today, software services offered by Softtrends also include .Net based Smart Client development, development of solutions for various Microsoft server platforms.

David Baliles
Chairman Advisory Board

For more than a decade, David has been a member of the Developer Platform Evangelism team at Microsoft, where he advised Fortune 100 organizations and Public Sector customers in the financial, retail, healthcare and government sectors on their strategic software platforms and investments. There he worked in a variety of technical sales roles, including the evangelism of Visual Studio, MSDN, Application Lifecycle Management best practices and other related platform products such as SharePoint, System Center and Dynamics. Before joining Microsoft, David was a partner with NSE, a venture capital firm, and CTO of Personic, one of NSE’s portfolio companies. His efforts to develop their software platform on .NET led to the acquisition of Personic’s HR solution by Microsoft, which operated Microsoft’s recruiting & staffing systems. Earlier in his career, he consulted with EDS and TRW, delivered financial software solutions in Equifax’s e-banking division and was the founder and partner of DSS Online, the first Internet Provider to service Southern Georgia in the early 90’s.

Scott is a 27yr veteran in the software industry as a leading sales and marketing executive and has made it happen for many US companies as VP and SVP of Business Development. Scott comes in the top 1% of LinkedIn connections. He has over 30,000 connections and can absolutely create positive change for any organization. With his vast market intelligence in MDM, BYOD, Carrier and Emerging Mobile markets, conversion of conventional Tech Services to Cloud-oriented services and other areas of Mobility, our customers need not just focus on doing business with us but also can count on getting introduced to potential customers to sell their products and services to.
